Short-term rentals are defined as accommodations for compensation for a period of less than 60 days. Operators must obtain a certificate of registration and are required to collect and remit a 5% transient accommodations tax to the Borough on a quarterly basis.
How to Obtain a Permit
1. Obtain an Alaska Business License from the State. 2. Submit a Bed Tax Registration Form to the Matanuska-Susitna Borough Finance Director (no fee). 3. File quarterly tax returns and remit the 5% tax within 30 days of the end of each quarter.
