Short-term rentals (STRs) are defined as stays of 30 days or less. Key constraints include a 7-night minimum stay during the summer season (June to August) and a 2-night minimum otherwise, occupancy limits of two persons plus two per bedroom, and a requirement to display the permit number in all advertisements. ADUs are ineligible for STR permits.
How to Obtain a Permit
1) Submit a completed STVR application and required forms to the Business Tax Office. 2) Pay the initial inspection, permit, and business license fees via a link provided by the office. 3) Schedule and pass a safety inspection by Code Enforcement. Note: New applications are currently on hold pending Coastal Commission approval of the updated ordinance.
