Short-Term (Vacation) Rentals are defined as primary dwellings or accessory dwelling structures rented for less than thirty (30) consecutive days and are treated in the Land Use Code under ‘Rural Recreation and Hospitality’ (Up to 4 rentable rooms noted). Up to 4 rentable rooms/units are allowed by-right in the county’s land-use tables but operators must still comply with other required approvals (address assignment, OWTS/septic permits, county access permits, and applicable state plumbing/electrical permits). Site Plan Review is not required for Allowed uses, but other inspections/permits may be required as listed in the Code.
How to Obtain a Permit
1) Complete and submit the Delta County ‘Vacation Application’ form (official Forms page lists a Vacation Application with a stated fee of $250). 2) Obtain required related permits/approvals: address assignment, OWTS/septic permit from county/environmental health, county access permit if new entrance, and any applicable state electrical/plumbing permits or safety inspections. 3) Pay application fee (Vacation Application fee shown $250) and comply with any required conditions identified during review; no separate Site Plan Review is required for Allowed (A) uses per the Code.
