Short-term rentals (180 days or less) are classified as either Home Sharing (host-occupied) or Vacation Rentals (non-host occupied). Hosts must obtain a Tourist Development Tax (TDT) account and a Short-Term Rental Local Business Tax Receipt (BTR), which must be displayed on all advertisements. Monthly tax reporting is required even if no income is generated.
How to Obtain a Permit
1) Register in the Palm Beach County TDT Portal and create a TDT account for each rental property. 2) Apply for and obtain a Short-Term Rental Local Business Tax Receipt (BTR) for each account via the Tax Collector. 3) File monthly TDT returns and renew the BTR annually by September 30.
