Short-term rentals (less than 30 days) are only permitted in properties zoned RMF (Residential Multi-Family) on the barrier islands. All other dwelling units in unincorporated Sarasota County must be rented for periods greater than 30 days. Properties within the City of Sarasota limits are subject to a separate 7-night minimum stay and registration ordinance.
