Owner-occupied STRs require the owner to reside on-site 365 days/year and may rent up to 175 days/year; non-owner-occupied STRs are limited to 92 days/year. Occupancy is limited to two persons per bedroom plus two additional persons, with a maximum of six bedrooms allowed for rent.
How to Obtain a Permit
1) Submit a Special Use Permit application to Troup County Community Development with a $500 fee, site plan, and proof of ownership. 2) Attend required public hearings before the Board of Zoning Appeals and Planning Commission and the Board of Commissioners. 3) Upon approval, obtain a business license, pass Fire Marshal and Building Official inspections, and register for hotel/occupancy taxes.
