Occupancy is capped at 2 guests per bedroom, and advertising signs are prohibited.
How to Obtain a Permit
1. Submit a completed Residential Rental License Application via the online portal (https://bzpermits.cookcountyil.gov/rental-dwelling). 2. Pay the annual licensing fee based on the number of units. 3. Schedule and pass an initial property inspection; for Non-Supervised STRs, obtain a Special Use permit and business occupancy approval. Licenses must be renewed annually by September 15.
