1) Submit the Kane County Short-term rental application form to the Kane County Development & Community Services Department and pay the fee (initial license $200; renewal $100). 2) Provide required attachments: owner and local agent contact info (24-hour local agent), property address and rental listing (bedrooms, bathrooms, parking, max guests), proof of landlord liability insurance, documentation of approved well/septic inspections, and a safety inspection by a licensed home inspector or Illinois-licensed architect. 3) Display the license on the property, complete required neighbor notice (proof of mailing), maintain guest registry and comply with all listed property and operational requirements; renew annually by January 31 or forfeit license.
