STRs are defined as renting all or part of a dwelling to transient guests for no more than 120 consecutive days in a calendar year; hosts may register no more than two dwelling units, rental period minimum is 24 hours, and rentals must not create a use prohibited in the zoning district. Hosts must provide hosting platforms the registration number, include the registration number in listings, display the registration number inside the unit, keep records for 3 years, and remit county occupancy/use tax.
How to Obtain a Permit
1) Complete the Anne Arundel County Short-Term Residential Rental registration form and submit via the Land Use Navigator online portal (or mail/in-person to the License Division). 2) Include required attachments: proof of ownership (deed/settlement), homeowners insurance declaration page, and a signed safety certification. 3) Pay the $100 fee for a two-year registration and renew every two years at least 30 days before expiration.
