Zoning & Conditions
Short-term rentals (defined as rentals of not more than 30 consecutive days) are allowed as a residential use wherever dwellings are allowed under the City of Gaylord Zoning Ordinance but operation requires a license and must comply with all state and local building codes and city ordinances; the City Council may limit the total number of short-term rentals and applications may be denied if limits are exceeded. Applicants must provide owner and local agent contact, maximum occupancy and bedroom count, and a signed compliance statement.
How to Obtain a Permit
1) Submit a written license application to the City Clerk on city forms including the nonrefundable fee set by City Council and required information (property address, owner and local agent contact, max occupancy/bedrooms, expected available rental days, and signed compliance statement). 2) City Clerk transmits application to the Zoning Administrator for review; a license is issued upon Zoning Administrator determination that requirements (and any City Council limit) are met. 3) Licenses are valid five years; renew at least 30 days prior with fee and same information.
