Short-term rentals (defined as hotel rooms, tourism lodging, and seasonal rentals) are regulated and require a city rental permit; rentals of 175 consecutive days or longer are not covered by the article. Permits require maintenance of a guest register, compliance with occupancy limited to number of sleeping accommodations, possible inspections by the Construction Official and Board of Health, designation of a local agent for nonresident owners, and penalties for violations.
How to Obtain a Permit
1) Download and complete the Room License/Room Rental application from the City Clerk’s Forms page and submit it to the North Wildwood City Clerk with the stated fees; 2) Provide required information (owner/agent contact, number of sleeping rooms, guest register) and, if applicable, designate a local agent and submit to Police Department; 3) Obtain required inspections/certifications (Construction Official, Board of Health, fire prevention fees, zoning compliance, business registration) for reinstatement or as required; permits expire December 31 and are renewed annually. Fees (as stated on Clerk forms): $12 per sleeping room plus GWTIDA fees ($300 per rented condo; $175 per apartment/house; $675 per rooming house).
