Transient rentals (stays of 29 days or less) are strictly prohibited in the Town of Riverhead. All rental units must have a valid rental occupancy permit. Operators of any lodging under 30 days must register with Suffolk County to collect and remit a 5.5% occupancy tax.

1. Submit a rental permit application via the Town’s OpenGov online portal. 2. Pay the $300 fee for a single rental dwelling unit. 3. Ensure compliance with Chapter 263; permits are valid for two years.
