Short-term rentals (under 30 days) are restricted to hosted stays where the host resides in the same unit; entire-home rentals are prohibited. Occupancy is limited to two guests who must have access to all parts of the dwelling and all exits. Rentals are prohibited in NYCHA, rent-controlled, rent-stabilized, or SRO units.
How to Obtain a Permit
1. Create or log in to an NYC.ID account. 2. Access the Short-Term Rental Registration Portal and submit the 'Short-Term Hosts' Registration' application. 3. Upon approval, receive a unique short-term rental registration number to be used on booking platforms.
