Occupancy is limited to two guests per bedroom (children 12 and under excluded). Non-owner-occupied STRs are capped at 180 rental days per year and no more than 26 weekends. Owners of 'STR Homes' must live on the property, and individuals may only hold an interest in one non-owner-occupied STR unit.
How to Obtain a Permit
1. Register with the Ulster County Department of Finance for occupancy tax. 2. Submit an annual STR permit application to the Town Building Department with a safety/egress plan, parking plan, garbage plan, and proof of county registration. 3. Pass a yearly fire/safety inspection and pay the required fee to receive the registration number.
