In the Town of Belhaven, STRs are allowed in specified zoning districts with a Zoning Compliance Permit. Occupancy is limited to two persons per bedroom plus four additional persons; a local responsible party must reside within 25 miles and respond within 60 minutes; and at least one off-street parking space is required per two bedrooms.
How to Obtain a Permit
1) Complete the Town of Belhaven STR application (Short Term Rental Annual Registration Form) including a photo of the exterior, notarized signature, and names/addresses of adjacent property owners. 2) Submit the application and $100 fee to the Town Manager’s Office. 3) Obtain a Zoning Compliance Permit, which must be renewed every two years.
