All rental properties must be registered annually by March 1st and pass a life and fire safety inspection based on the International Property Maintenance Code. Short-term rentals (stays under 30 days) are subject to a 2% Denton County Hotel Occupancy Tax. Owners must provide consent for city officials to perform interior and exterior inspections.
How to Obtain a Permit
1. Submit a Rental Registration Application to permits@roanoketexas.com along with a $50 annual fee by March 1st. 2. Schedule and pass an interior/exterior property inspection by emailing jbarraza@roanokepolice.com. 3. Register with the Denton County Treasurer to collect and remit the 2% Hotel Occupancy Tax for stays under 30 days.
