Short-term rentals (STRs) are defined as rentals for fewer than 29 consecutive days. In residential zones, a minimum stay of seven consecutive days is required, and owners must reside on the premises for at least 30 days per year. Occupancy is limited by the State Uniform Dwelling Code or bedroom count, and properties must provide at least two off-street parking spaces.
How to Obtain a Permit
1) File the City short-term rental license application with the City Clerk and pay the $500 fee. 2) Submit required documentation including a State Tourist Rooming House license, seller's permit, room tax permit, and a residency affidavit if in a residential district. 3) Obtain a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) if the STR is new (effective after 9/20/2024). Licenses must be renewed annually by June 1.
